Heritage Orchard and Mission Creek Cycle Tour
This
cycle tour takes us through the classic orchard country of
the Okanagan, we arrive at the Kelowna Land and Orchard Company
founded in 1904, where we take a wagon tour through the farm
operation, one of the largest and most modern orchard operations
in Canada leading the world in the use of environmental technologies.
Our guided tour will include an introduction to heritage varieties
of fruit and lunch at the famous Teahouse.
This tour begins with a pick-up in Kelowna’s
Cultural District and transport to the Kelowna Land and Orchard
Company we will see many orchards and valley views along our
scenic and informative cycle back to downtown. Included is
a stop for a break and snack at the Father Pandosy Mission,
The first white settlement site in the Okanagan. We will continue
our leisurely cycle down the Mission Creek Greenway and a
stop at the Ecology Interpretive Centre. In late September
to early October we can also view the Kokanee Salmon spawning.
We will also stop at a heritage park and bird sanctuary. The
cycle tour distance is 24kms.
Ed Kruger one of our most experienced
guides hosts this shuttle and cycle tour, we affectionately
call him Trail-head Ed who has 20 years experience as a leader
of outdoor experiences. This tour includes transportation,
guide, trail snacks, beverages, and lunch.
